About Us
Our Story
This is the story of how Marika and Mr. Paul met and developed a life together. It started as an ordinary day when Mr. Paul and his brother decided to explore new paint shops due to rising prices at their usual supplier. Unbeknown to him, Marika worked at the first shop they visited. Mr. Paul was struck by Marika’s politeness, warmth, and exceptional customer service, which made him decide that her shop would be their regular destination. Over time, frequent visits and friendly interactions turned into a strong bond.​ Marika was initially preoccupied with personal challenges, including her failing marriage.
Despite this, her honesty and kindness shone through, and Mr. Paul admired her. Meanwhile, Marika appreciated his gentlemanly nature and reliability as a customer. As their friendship deepened, they confided in one another. Eventually, they realised their connection went beyond friendship.​ A pivotal moment came when Marika, in a moment of spontaneity, suggested Mr. Paul consider changes in his life, reflecting her own struggles. By the time Marika finalised her divorce, their relationship had naturally evolved.
Their first “date” was initially arranged for Mr. Paul to meet another woman, but despite this his intentions were always focused on Marika.​Months of mutual support, gestures like morning roses, and shared conversations eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship. They now share their journey through YouTube, opening up about their lives, challenges, and love story. Their channel, "Marika and Me", has the aim to connect with others and spread positivity. They have now taken this connection a step further with the Marika and Me Lounge Bar opening in March 2025.

About Paphos
Paphos, a coastal city in southwest Cyprus, is a historic and picturesque destination known for its rich archaeological heritage, stunning beaches, and vibrant Mediterranean culture. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its wealth of ancient ruins, including Paphos Archaeological Park, which features the Tombs of the Kings, Roman villas with intricate mosaics, and the remains of ancient theaters and temples.

Mythologically, Paphos is famous as the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. The Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s Rock), a scenic sea stack along the coastline, is linked to her myth and attracts visitors seeking romance and natural beauty.

Paphos is divided into two main areas: Kato Paphos (lower Paphos), the tourist hub with waterfront restaurants, hotels, and historical landmarks, and Ktima Paphos, the upper town where locals live and work, featuring traditional markets and neoclassical buildings. The Paphos Castle, standing at the harbour, is a symbol of the city’s medieval history and hosts cultural events throughout the year.

Beyond history, Paphos offers beautiful beaches, such as Coral Bay, perfect for sunbathing and water sports. The nearby Akamas Peninsula is a nature lover’s paradise with rugged trails, secluded coves, and wildlife, including sea turtles at Lara Beach.

The city enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and mild winters, making it a year-round destination. Local cuisine includes Cypriot specialties like souvlaki, halloumi, moussaka, and fresh seafood, best enjoyed at seaside tavernas.

Paphos was the European Capital of Culture in 2017, enhancing its reputation as a cultural hotspot. Whether exploring ancient ruins, enjoying stunning coastlines, or indulging in delicious food, Paphos offers a perfect blend of history, relaxation, and adventure.

Our Team.
Paul and Marika began this journey when they launched their YouTube channel in 2022, with Paul's gift for being able to engage with the audience and Marika's warmth and friendliness coming across in every video the channel became a success. The engagement with their audience led to the decision to open The Marika & Me Lounge Bar. Heather and Steve joined them in 2025 to help out behind the scenes promoting the bar, looking after the social media channels, producing the podcast and designing the website.
